+ Company Statement About NXP Power LDMOS Transistors Availability  |  19-June-2026

In line with our company's transparency policy, we want to share important information about the future of our well-proven solid-state amplifiers ACOM 500S, 700S, 1200S, 1400S, and 2020S. These amplifiers are based on HF LDMOS transistors produced by NXP. Unfortunately, in early 2026, NXP announced a transistor production ramp-down, with the last deliveries scheduled for September 2027. The original information from NXP is available here.

There is no cause for concern. We have good news, and the future of our solid-state amplifiers is bright. As the information above is not new to us, we have worked hard over the last year, and now we have a SOLUTION for all our solid-state models.

Support

Our solution will be realised as a two-stage process.

  • We continue normal amplifier production based on NXP transistors, as we have more than enough in stock. We have planned future transistor deliveries in 2027, according to NXP's schedule. We have also planned stock for service needs, in line with good manufacturing and commercial practices. I.e., the production process is secured for at least the next 2 years.
  • We have been working hard over the last 12 months. As a result, we have developed new PA modules for our transistor amplifiers. These modules are based on alternative (virtually compatible) LDMOS transistors. I.e., ACOM's production is not limited to NXP transistors.

The new PA modules are NOT planned for serial production in 2026 and 2027. They are an NXP alternative and will secure ACOM's solid-state amplifier production after the end of NXP-based production.

Conclusion
  1. We believe that the above proves unequivocally that ACOM is the most reliable amplifier manufacturer from whom you should order your new amplifier.
  2. It doesn't matter how old your product is - ACOM will support and help you. ACOM supports all of its products without limitation of when they were manufactured. ACOM strives to provide the know-how required for repair services for at least 20 years upon delivery of the relevant products.
  3. All that makes ACOM a unique company, right?

Helpful Tools for Firmware Update

To start the firmware update procedure, a PC with an RS-232 interface is needed. Nowadays, most computers do not have a built-in RS-232 interface, and this creates a problem.

But fortunately, you are an ACOM customer, and we have a solution. Currently, all computers have a couple of USB ports. So, you need a USB to RS-232 interface converter.

ACOM recommends using "USB to RS-232" converters produced by FTDI (www.ftdichip.com) or based on an FTDI chip.

Below are shown two devices (interface converters) tested and approved by ACOM for use with our amplifiers:
  • USB (Type-C connector) to RS-232 (Serial, 9-pin, D-sub male connector), 1 m cable, USB 2.0 standard
    • Producer Digitus, PN: DA-70166. This converter can be ordered from TME (www.tme.eu), PN: DA-70166;
  • USB (Type A connector) to RS-232 (Serial, 9-pin, D-sub male connector), 2 m cable, USB 2.0 standard
    • Producer FTDI, PN: UT232R-200. This converter can be ordered from DigiKey (www.digikey.com), PN: 768-1084-ND, or Mouser (www.mouser.com), PN: 895-UT232R-200, or Farnell (www.farnell.com), PN: 2352013.

+ ACOM 600S Upgrade for Use with 04AT or 06AT antenna tuners  |  14-March-2022

The ACOM 600S units with a Serial Number greater than 170105 can be used with the ACOM 04AT or 06AT antenna tuners without problem.
The amplifiers with smaller Serial Numbers (mainly produced before 2017) must be upgraded in the factory to work with our antenna tuners.

+ LDMOS Transistors Guarantee  |  08-July-2024

Many customers asked us:
What is the LDMOS transistor warranty used in ACOM power amplifiers?
The answer is easy, but first, please read these statements:

NXP Semiconductors | LDMOS transistors producer | www.nxp.com
" ... NXP makes no warranty, representation, or guarantee regarding the suitability of its products for any particular purpose, nor does NXP assume any liability arising out of the application or use of any product or circuit, and specifically disclaims any and all liability, including without limitation consequential or incidental damages. "Typical" parameters that may be provided in NXP data sheets and/or specifications can and do vary in different applications, and actual performance may vary over time. ...".
" ... (c.) Time Period. Except as provided in subsections (d) and (e) below, Products are warranted for a period of one (1) year from date of delivery to Buyer. ...".

AMPLEON | LDMOS transistors producer | www.ampleon.com
" ... Seller warrants that under normal use the Products (excluding any Excluded Products) shall, at the time of delivery to Buyer and for a period of twelve (12) months thereafter (or such other period as may be agreed upon in writing by the parties), be free from defects in material or workmanship and shall substantially conform to Seller’s specifications for such Products, or such other specifications as Seller has agreed to in writing, as applicable. ...".

As you are convinced by the quotes above, ACOM offers the longest possible guarantee on the market for its solid-state amplifiers:

2 (two) years for the amplifier, and
1 (one) year for the transistor.
